Almost every espresso accessory — tampers, dosing funnels, portafilters, puck screens — comes in multiple diameters, and the number one reason for returns is buying the wrong one. Your machine uses one specific basket size. Here's how to find it.

Not sure? Measure your basket
Pop the filter basket out of your portafilter and measure straight across the inside top edge with a ruler. Don't measure the portafilter body — it's wider than the basket. You'll land within a millimeter of 51, 53/54 or 58.
The Breville 54mm quirk
Breville machines are called 54mm, but the basket's usable inner diameter is closer to 53mm — which is why tampers marketed at exactly 54mm can stick. That's why our adjustable tamper's Breville option is a 53mm base: it drops in and sits flush.
Why it matters more than you'd think
- A tamper even 1mm undersized leaves a ring of loose grounds around the edge — a channeling invitation.
- A dosing funnel that doesn't match your basket wobbles and spills.
- A bottomless portafilter has to match your group head exactly — 54mm Breville and 58mm E61 are not interchangeable.
